The Wood County Sheriff Department currently has in place a K-9. The Dog has been named Friday. Friday is on patrol with Deputy Ray Starks working the 3p-11p shift.
Deputy Starks now drives a 2000 GMC Sierra Z71. This vehicle was put into service in 2004. The Wood County Sheriff's Department obtained this vehicle as part of a drug seizure in 2002 by the local drug unit..

CANINE PROGRAM –
Demand for K9 presentations to various groups and schools remained high throughout 2006. People of all ages enjoy the opportunity to see K9 Friday and hear of his exploits. Friday seems to enjoy all the attention lavished upon him at these presentations.
Friday's drug work remains the highlight of his deployments. The K9 team still works hard for the Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force. Cocaine seems to be in high demand in the area and it shows up in the frequency that we are called to look specifically for it. Friday is still highly regarded for his tracking ability and we are called upon to look for lost people, drunk drivers fleeing the scene, and burglars. Friday’s ability to locate small items thrown away during crimes was put to the test, successfully.
