Here's Prince Valiant. He was a beautiful grey cockatiel. He was a funny clown and an acrobat and a wonderful singer and also learned to talk to me and laugh at me. He did a very realistic impression of a siren. He sat on my shoulder and talked to me while we read email. He gave me little birdie kisses and never failed to make me smile with his antics. His Royal Everythingness Prince Valiant was my companion and my friend. I will always remember him fondly He died unexpectedly from a heart attack during the summer of 2000 (at the young age of 6), but his memory lives on in my heart and he will always be sitting on my shoulder thanks to Dave at Hurts So Good Tattoos.
Val liked to listen to Elton John's music with me. He learned to whistle different parts of many of Elton's songs. Don't Go Breaking My Heart was his favorite. He also liked Metallica, and Kenny G.
Val was the first cockatiel for me and he taught me a lot about birds. Then, a year later I got Mimi. Val tried in vain for a long time to catch her interest but she refused to listen to his singing. They played together on top of the cage and Mimi would preen Val's feathers for him but if she presented her neck to him for a little preen he would promptly yank one out causing her to shriek and run away. Then he would follow her and sing to her, or do his siren imitation; all the while being squeeped at by her to shut up. The next year, we got two other pairs of tiels: Bramble & Juno and Jero & Tansy. Val used to sing to Tansy if he found his way to their cage and this caused Jero to become quite jealous, so she pretended she was not interested in Val's singing.
Aside from the tiels I have a few tropical fish and my son's dog Spot.
