Pets For ChristmasThe decision to become a pet owner is such an important one that it is worth taking the time to weigh the advantages and disadvantages in more depth.
First, remind yourself that your new family member will be a huge commitment. It will mean spending time and money. They need the right food, good veterinary care, and exercise on a daily basis.
Although pets make wonderful companions, surprising a grandparent, parent, or a friend with a dog or cat for Christmas isn’t always appreciated. With the high level of veterinary care and quality foods available today, many pets live over ten years. Knowing this, please consider all the responsibilities you may be putting on a person with this surprise (pet) gift. Too many pets end up in shelters or unwanted instead of cherished.
Helpful Tips regarding Pets and Christmas
· Mistletoe and poinsettias are very toxic for pets as is chocolate.
· If you have a young cat or dog, you should anchor the Christmas tree down for the pets that attempt to climb it.
· Place plastic or wood bulbs towards the bottom of your tree as your cat may attempt to play with the bulbs or for when your dog hits the tree while wagging its tail.
Have a safe and happy holiday season. |
