FIREARMS Deer hunting season is approaching fast and safety should be your number one concern. It is your responsibility to know the locations in your area where hunting is not allowed. There is a large area many would consider “country” but is within the city limits of Marshfield. Know where you are at all times!
City Ordinance 9.18(1) Hunting Prohibited: No person shall kill, hunt or pursue any game animals or birds with any gun, pistol or other firearms, nor with any airgun, slingshot, bow and arrow, or with dogs within the corporate limits of the City of Marshfield unless specifically permitted pursuant to 2.9.02(3).
City Ordinance 9.02(1) Firearms: It shall be unlawful for any person, except a police officer in the line of duty, to fire or discharge within the City of Marshfield, any rifle, shotgun, pistol, airgun or weapon using gas or other propellant, bow and arrow, or any other weapon of any kind or nature, except as hereinafter provided.
City Ordinance 9.02(2) Firearms: The above provisions shall not apply to target practice, trap or skeet shooting, or archery practice or contests, where such activities of a club or association of adult persons, organized for that purpose, and where, before engaging in such activities, there shall be issued by the Chief of Police, in writing, a certificate stating that he has examined the premises on which such activities are proposed to be conducted, and the rules and regulations of such club purposes, according to ordinance standards.
City Ordinance 9.02(3) Firearms: The Chief of Police shall have the authority to determine, in any given case, whether a weapon or device may be used for any other purpose than permitted herein, and may issue a written permit for such use. |
