Summary

I am currently working as an Senior Process Controls Engineer, and my primary focus has always been problem solving and optimizing systems. My talent has been applied both internally to the organizations to which I am employed, and to the customers that they serve.

Having worked with, and programmed computers since 1980 (high school), I have come to appreciate what these tools can do when properly applied. This is reflected in abandoning the standard programming techniques of the time (BASIC), and going on to assembly (mostly 6502, some 8086). Since then I have studied C, C++, Visual Basic and some Objective C. I have not had occasion yet to pursue the newer .NET framework functionality. There were other obscure languages that I do not remember any more (from lack of use and interest), like Forth, Pascal, LISP, HTML, and some Java.

As stated above, one of my driving forces is to improve and automate processes. This includes the way that the computers in my place of employment work. Included are spreadsheets, databases, scripts, programming, operations, and other forms data automation.

On the flip side, my work has also exposed me to a variety of other automations and system integrations. Using PLCs and PCs to control and automate a plant floor, from simple conveyor systems and detention facilities to pasteurization, cheese making (vat automation), and other regulated industries. This includes a variety of devices, both analog and digital.

Objectives

To secure long term employment at a company in which my technical and managerial skills are a good complement to the existing team, and that can provide me with enough challenges and opportunities to continue growing.  Additionally the ability to perform my job with significantly less travel is desired.
