

Thomas Reichert became the 42nd Sheriff in the history of Wood County in June 2005 when he was appointed to fill a vacant position by Governor Jim Doyle. In 2006, Sheriff Reichert was elected to his first full four year term by the voters of Wood County. Sheriff Reichert began his service to Wood County when he was appointed Deputy Sheriff by Sheriff Robert Bodette in 1982. He worked as a Jailer, Road Deputy, and Acting Shift Commander through 1990. He was then appointed Juvenile Affairs Investigator, a position he held until his 2005 appointment as Sheriff. Sheriff Reichert holds a Master's Degree in Leadership and Bachelor Degrees in Management and Criminal Justice. He has been a Wood County resident his entire life. Meet Sheriff Reichert:
Under Sheriff Dave Joosten began his service to Wood County in 1979 when appointed as a Deputy Sheriff by Sheriff Robert Bodette. Under Sheriff Joosten served in all capacities and divisions at Wood County; Reserve Deputy, Deputy Sheriff Jailer, and Deputy Sheriff Dispatcher, Traffic Officer, Shift Commander, and founding member of the Wood County Special Response (SRT or SWAT)team as sniper and was promoted to Sergeant-Investigator as a general Criminal Investigator in 1984. Sheriff Thomas Reichert promoted Joosten to Under Sheriff in June of 2005. Dave attended MSTC and Mount Scenario College and has a Police Science Degree. He has been a life long resident of Wood County and happily married for over 34 years.
The Wood County Sheriff's Department will be a public service example by providing the full range of law enforcement services needed by Wood County citizens in the 21st Century. The Department will enforce laws to protect life and property, properly maintain and administer a cutting edge jail facility including implementation of innovative means of incarceration and assist in the lawful function of the Circuit Court. Additionally the Department will be committed to specialized and support services to provide "cutting edge" investigations and necessary responses and outcomes to our citizens.
