LOITERING
229.01 LOITERING OF MINORS (CURFEW HOURS)
It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of 17 years to congregate, loiter, wander, stroll, stand, or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots, or any public places in the County of Wood either on foot or in or upon any conveyance being driven or parked thereon between the hours of midnight and 5:00 AM of the following day official County time, unless accompanied by his/her parent, guardian, or other adult person having his/her care, custody, or control.
(1) Responsibilities of parents: It shall be unlawful for the parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of a person under the age of 17 years to allow or permit or by inefficient control allow such person to congregate, loiter, wander, stroll, stand, or play in or upon the public streets, highways, roads, alleys, parks, public buildings, places of amusement and entertainment, vacant lots, or any public places in the County of Wood between the hours of midnight and 5:00 AM the following day, official County time, unless said person under the age of 17 years is accompanied by his/her parent, guardian, or other adult person having his/her care, custody, or control. Any parent, guardian, or other adult person herein who shall have made a Missing Person Notification to the police department shall not be considered to have allowed or permitted any person to be in violation of this section.
(2) Penalties: Minor: Any person under the age of 17 years violating the provisions of this section shall have penalties imposed upon him/her in accordance with Section 48.343 of the Wisconsin Statutes.
(3) Penalties: Parents, etc.: Any person violating any of the provisions of this section upon conviction thereof shall be fined not less than $10.00 nor more than $200.00 plus court costs.
